The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror XX & 20th Anniversary Party in Santa Monica


The creators of The Simpsons are holding a contest, and the winner gets to create a new bright-yellow bug-eyed person to join Springfield’s most famous family. Entries must describe the character’s traits, including his or her name or nickname; age; appearance; occupation, and favorite catchphrase. The new character will be featured on the episode on which Coldplay frontman Chris Martin makes an appearance. Entries are due by October 24th. The official Simpsons site explains: “The simple fact is, we’re tired. Tired and, frankly, too rich to care anymore.”

THE SIMPSONS CAST SETTLE PAY DISPUTE

The cast of U.S. TV show THE SIMPSONS have settled an ongoing pay dispute with TV bosses – landing a major pay rise which will see their earnings rise to $500,000 (GBP250,000) an episode.

The cartoon’s actors, including Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner and Nancy Cartwright, had been embroiled in lengthy negotiations with executives at Fox TV to have their wages increased from $320,000 (180,000) for the next 22 episode series.

But the pay boost has now brought their earnings more in line with live action sitcom stars and guaranteed the show will return for its 20th season.
