The office

2006 TCA Tour - Day 13
AP – Some suicide prevention groups aren’t laughing over a scene in “The Office” where Steve Carell’s character tries to scare young children by struggling in a hangman’s noose.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and other mental health organizations say NBC and other entertainers should stop using suicide as a punchline. They worry that depiction of a method of suicide might encourage mentally ill people to take their own lives.

“We try not to be zealots about this,” said Robert Gebbia, the foundation’s executive director. “But this one … kind of crossed the line.”

A spokeswoman for NBC’s entertainment division did not have an immediate comment.

There’s been a run of television shows that have inflamed sensibilities lately. The Parents Television Council has urged affiliates of the CW network not to air a Nov. 9 episode of “Gossip Girl” following on-air promos for a sexual threesome. Some religious groups were angered by an episode of HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” where a drop of Larry David’s urine is splattered on a portrait of Jesus Christ.

“The Office” Halloween episode last Thursday opened with the paper company hosting a haunted house for young children. Carell’s socially clueless office manager Michael Scott promises a scare, and pops out with his depiction of a hanging.

Afterward, Scott speaks like an exaggerated public service announcement: “Kids, just remember, suicide is not the answer. It is the easy way out.”

The actress, 37, and Lieberstein, a writer, welcomed their first daughter, Isabel, last May.

Adding to the drama?

She won’t be able to avoid his family: Brother Paul Lieberstein costars on the NBC hit.

However, her rep tells Us the break is friendly: “Angela and Warren are taking some time apart to figure out what is best for their relationship.”

Continues the rep: “They continue to be friends.”

Jack Black - Actress Jessica Alba attends a screening of Filth and Wisdom...
Celebbuzz – Are you ready for some football?
And some Jessica Alba?
And some Jack Black?
Well, that’s too bad, because you’ll have to wait until February 1 to experience them all in one day.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Alba, 27, and Black, 39, will guest-star on the special one-hour post-Super Bowl episode of NBC sitcom The Office. On the episode, the pair will star in a fake movie that the Dunder-Mifflin crew attempt to watch a bootleg copy of during the workday—with, no doubt, hilarious results.
Jessica Alba and Jack Black Make 'Office' Space
No word on whether Alba will stay true to recent appearances and film her segment half-naked.
Or, for that matter, whether Black will do the same.
The episode—titled “Stress Relief”—will air immediately following the broadcast of Super Bowl 43, which takes place in Tampa, Florida.
