Manolo Blahnik Disses Sex and the City…
WENN – MANOLO BLAHNIK is “sick” of seeing his shoes appear in SEX AND THE CITY – because he never wanted to be a celebrity designer.
The luxury heels became a staple on Sarah Jessica Parker’s hit TV show when it first aired in the 1990s, and regular appearances in the long-running series cemented the brand in pop culture. Blahnik admits the show has given the business a major boost over the years, but he is desperate to distance himself – and his shoes – from the fashion-focused franchise. He says, “Well, we had a very good year last year, thanks to those stupid satin shoes (which Parker wore in the Sex and the City movie). That shoe
saved our company. “(But) if people talk to me about Sex and the City, I get sick. The taxi drivers recognise me now. It becomes too much and I don’t feel comfortable. I have never wanted to be a celebrity designer.”

Jonathan Franzen says he regrets what he has said about Oprah Winfrey.

The film version of the popular TV show hit the big screen earlier this year and there are already rumours that movie bosses are planning a follow-up. And Noth – who plays Carrie Bradshaw’s love interest Mr Big – insists that the New York-based show would translate well if it moved to London for a sequel. He says, “We are doing a sequel right here in London. I don’t know, I’m just kidding, it’s up to the writer, Michael Patrick King. “He has some great ideas. I think it would be a great place to make it. If Woody Allen can make films in London, why can’t we?
“Maybe Carrie and Mr Big could take their honeymoon here, maybe his business could move here or could bring him here and they could settle down.”
