Football fans who are readying themselves for big time playoff action come Sunday, take note. You’ll only be seeing a paltry 11 minutes of actual playtime action with all the rest devoted to shots of ‘filler stuff’.

Filler meaning replays, crowd shots, commercials (quite a few), the scrimmage line, players on the sidelines among the many, many filler items. Filler is also defined as shots of the sportcasters analyzing  field plays or profiling football players (they get 30 seconds of screentime on each broadcast).Believe it or now, from football-first-snapped to game-officially-ends time, 174 minutes is spent watching  that fun-filled ‘filler’ time.

Absolutely, serious.

A WSJ report calculated the total ‘Filler’ found in a single football game and found holy-staggering conclusions.
