TMZ – Mel Gibson acclimated back into L.A. life by getting into a car accident yesterday … this according to law enforcement sources.Sources tell TMZ it happened at 8:35 PM in Malibu. Gibson, we’re told, lost control of his car and ended up striking the rocky hillside on Malibu
Canyon Road.
Gibson was driving a 2008 Maserati, which had to be towed from the scene.
Hours before the crash — photogs shot footage of Gibson driving the Maserati around Malibu (see video above).
According to the CHP report, obtained by TMZ, “For unknown reasons, Mr. Gibson steered his car to the right and struck the rock hillside. He stopped his car at the scene and was contacted by officers from the West Valley CHP Area.”
CHP Public Information Officer Leland Tang tells TMZ … “Gibson told officers in the field he did not know how the car drifted out of the lane and into the hillside.” Tang said his officers followed up by asking Gibson if he was on a cell phone and he said no. Tang adds officers also asked Gibson if he had dozed off “but he did not give a firm ‘yes’ or ‘no’.” Gibson just repeated several times, “I don’t know how the car left the roadway.”
The report goes on, “Mr. Gibson supplied all the pertinent information to the officers at the scene, gave a statement, and received a ride home from a friend.”
Gibson was not hurt.
According to the report, “DUI is not suspected in the accident.”
UPDATE: As for the curious statement in the report … “For unknown reasons, Mr. Gibson steered his car to the right and struck the rock hillside.” Tang tells TMZ his department was in no way trying to insinuate Gibson did it intentionally. Tang says, “It was totally an unintentional act.” And Tang says no citation was issued and no charges will be filed.

Mel Gibson had a 10-day hypnotherapy session to help him cope with all the stress in his life.
The ‘Edge of Darkness’ star is currently being investigated by police following allegations he attacked ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva during a violent row, and has sought help from top hypnotist Rick Collingwood in a bid to deal with the fall-out.
Rick – founder of The Australian Academy of Hypnosis – flew in from Perth, Australia, to Mel’s Los Angeles mansion to start the 10-day course and was impressed with his client’s behavior.
He said: “I gave him a few sessions to help him with the stress he is obviously experiencing at the moment.
“I must say that he is a far nicer person that what is being portrayed presently in the media. It will be interesting to see the results when all of the truths are revealed during the ongoing legal saga.”
However, Rick refused to reveal exactly what treatment Mel received, telling RadarOnline.com: “The nature of the therapy is of course confidential, but it does show that they were both reaching out for help.
“Hypnosis can be used very effectively as a therapy for anything that is the human condition, to change behavior and habits – and also for self improvement.”
Russian singer Oksana – who has a nine-month-old daughter Lucia with Mel – has claimed the 54-year-old actor hit her in the face, breaking her teeth, and threatened to kill her during the alleged attacked on January 6.

People – What’s his latest breakup going to cost Mel Gibson?According to a family law specialist, the wealthy actor-director-producer will likely pay a large amount of child support to ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva for their 5-month-old daughter, Lucia, but probably has no legal responsibility to make alimony payments, given the fact they were not married.”This is not dissolution of marriage action. The mother would have rights to child support, which in the case of Mr. Gibson, will be very substantial,” says attorney Steven Knowles, who estimates support of $12,000 to $15,000 a month. “He is what we call a high-income earner, and there is a high-income earner stipulation that says they must pay any amount reasonably necessary for the support of the child.” But Gibson, who already is in the midst of a divorce from his wife of three decades, Robyn, likely won’t pay alimony to Grigorieva because they were never married, even under California’s famous Marvin palimony laws for unmarried couples

Celebitchy – Holy crap! It looks like Mel Gibson and Oksana really did split!!! The Enquirer got it right! Both Us Weekly and People Magazine are reporting it now. Us Weekly’s sources claim that Oksana and Mel broke up “months ago” and that “it’s all very friendly”. Meanwhile, People’s sources claim that “they just drifted apart.” They were last photographed together on March 4, at an event for the Hollywood Reporter.
Here’s People Mag’s take:
Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva, his Russian musician-singer girlfriend and mother of their 5-month-old daughter, have split after over a year of dating, a source tells PEOPLE.
“They just drifted apart,” says a close friend of the couple of the amicable split. “They’re both working hard on their careers and trying to raise a sweet baby together. They’re still friends and they’ll both raise Lucia together.”
Gibson is in Mexico filming How I Spent My Summer Vacation, and Grigorieva is working on her music. Next week, she has plans to perform a charity concert in Russia to benefit “Grant Life,” a foundation to help children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

Can the actor once again win over audiences amid several career haunting misteps?
Will Mel Gibson Return to form this year? The 54-year old actor will hit theaters this weekend with his first starring role in eight years in the “The Edge of Darkness”.
The studios behind Gibson’s venture, an $80 million dollar budgeted silver screen adaptation of a popular BBC miniseries, are down-on-their-knees hopeful that the screen legend can override the tidal wave of criticism that has swarmed the actor through two PR-nightmareous high profile, highly negative thoroughly discussed before-our-eyes stints that have more-than-soured his mega superstardom appeal before a once plentiful and worshiping Mel Gibson fan base.
Studios are praying the public will forgive and forget the police mugshot of Mel Gibson that recalls a career more-than-a-blip moment of drunken anti-semetic behavior that found itself plastered across front pages and populating entertainment show headlines. Studios are praying that the public will forget the paparazzi photos of Gibson caught cheating on his wife (he has eight kids) with a beautiful babe on a malibu beach, surfboard tucked under his arm and an auora of utter disregard.

Gibson stars as homicide detective Thomas Craven while in the midst of an investigation into the death of his activist daughter, uncovers her secret life, and a corporate cover-up that involves government efforts to extracate the evidence.
Gibson had once thrilled moviegoers with a string of hits that ranged from revolutionary war hero The Patriot, to vengeful father in Ransom, to military hero in We Were Soldiers. Gibson is known for reaching career soaring heights in all forms of the film business; be it directing (he won an Oscar for Braveheart) or horror (Signs pulled in well over 200 million).
All told, Mel Gibson has walloped up a whopping ten films that have grossed over the 100 million mark, putting him at number eight on a recent list of actors with the most movies to gross over $100,000.

Cinematical – Hundreds of people in Veracruz, Mexico protested the filming of Mel Gibson’s new movie this week, even before production got underway. As Elisabeth Rappe noted earlier this month, one prison in Veracruz was all set to empty its jail cells and transfer the 1,000 inmates to a new prison under construction nearby so Mel could have the place to himself. (He’s financing and producing the project.) That didn’t sit too well with the families of prisoners, who are “the only source of food and clean clothing” for inmates, Variety reported; moving inmates would require families to relocate as well. The protests were halted when the prison warden told the families he’d let them know if he got any orders to transfer anybody, according to USA Today, roughly equivalent to ‘Don’t protest call us, we’ll call you.’

Hollyscoop – Mel Gibson’s baby mama Oksana Grigorieva has landed a spread in Us Weekly magazine, thanks to her new daughter Lucia Anne.
Mom and daughter are photographed for the new issue of the magazine, due out on newsstands today. Mel and Oksana welcomed their daughter on October 30th, but Mel wasn’t around for the birth due to work obligations.
Grigorieva tells Britain’s Hello magazine, “She was almost a month early. I was at home and then I got rushed to hospital, and then eight hours later, I could look at her beautiful face. It was fairly straightforward, as births go. It happened very quickly.
“He (Gibson) came a few hours later because he had to fly from New York… He is ecstatic. He is in love with her already. He’s very hands-on. He has been very doting and nurturing.”

Reuters – Actor Mel Gibson and his Russian girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva are celebrating the birth of a daughter, according to media reports.
Gibson, 53, announced in May that his girlfriend was pregnant. Celebrity website RadarOnline.com said 39-year-old Grigorieva gave birth on Friday, a few weeks early. There were no further details.
The Australian-raised actor already has seven children from his first wife Robyn who filed for divorce in April this year after 28 years of marriage. Grigorieva has a teenage son with former James Bond actor Timothy Dalton.
Gibson has said that he and his wife split up three years ago, shortly after he was arrested in Malibu for drunken driving and launched into an alcohol-fueled tirade against Jews. He later apologized and sought treatment for alcoholism.
