This is horrible. It’s like something you see in the movies. Two girls go overseas and end up in the foreign prison system…completely defenseless….This is a case where you can be an american citizen and have no right to an attorney…In my thoughts and prayers…I bet if Lisa Ling was still on The View, and had that DAILY ‘platform’ to talk about her sister…they wouldn’t be in a prison camp right now…

It’s been two and a half months since journalists Euna Lee and Laura Ling were picked up by North Korean soldiers.  The two, who work for San Francisco based
Current TV, founded by Al Gore, were along the border in China, putting together a story on refugees.

Lings sister Lisa, also a journalist, says the family has remained low key for a reason.  But now the family is speaking out since a recent call from Laura,

I picked up the phone and heard this little voice say “Li, it’s me, I need your help”, and the call lasted about 4 minutes, it was extremely emotional, I’m surprised we were even able to get our words out, but in our 4 minute conversation, she said the only way to get us released is if our two countries communicate and that’s one of the reasons why we wanted to go
public.

North Korean government officials say the two women have been convicted, for engaging in so-called “hostile acts”. They will now be sent to a labor camp to serve the maximum 12 years.The trial comes at a delicate time. On the heels of a North Korean missile launch and underground nuclear test.
