MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY angrily confronted a paparazzo after a triathlon in Malibu, California when the over-eager snapper got too close to the actor’s newborn son LEVI. The Fool’s Gold star took part in the gruelling event on Sunday (14Sep08), running, swimming and cycling his way through the tough endurance race alongside new mum Jennifer Lopez. After completing the race, McConaughey was congratulated by his girlfriend Camila Alves who had been cheering him on from the sidelines while holding their tot. But the star soon lost his temper with a photographer after he began to follow the pair along the beach, upsetting Alves by taking snaps up close.

In a video posted on TMZ.com, McConaughey can be seen approaching the snapper, telling him to “back off” several times. It is not the first time the actor has had trouble with photographers in Malibu – two local surfers were charged with battering a paparazzo who got too close to the star while he was riding the waves.

Actor Matthew McConaughey is backing his pal Lance Armstrong to win the next Tour de France cycle race. The cyclist – who has dated a string of celebrities including Kate Hudson – recently announced his return to the sport after a three-year break. And McConaughey, who is a close friend of the sportsman, insists that Armstrong can go on to win his 8th title at the legendary event in 2009. He tells Access Hollywood, “Whenever we get together I like to hop into his training regime. He doesn’t need much of my help training, I promise you that. “I’m happy he is going back to do it. And he is going back to win it. He’s got the strongest mind of a guy I’ve ever met. Whatever he sets his mind to do it, I’m gonna bet on it.” – WENN

From Us Weekly – Matthew McConaughey’s mom, Kay McConaughey, has a new book, “I Amaze Myself”. In it, she talks about some pretty personal stuff, including how her husband, Matthew’s father, died while she was having sex with him. The 78 year-old writes, “On Monday mornings, he and I often said goodbye by making love. One day, all of a sudden, it just happened. I knew that something was wrong, because I didn’t hear anything from him. Just nothing. But it was just the best way to go!”

Too proud to even know how many single ladies he’s disappointed…

In his very first interview after the birth of his son, he tells Dr. Sanjay Gupta on CNN, about the difficult delivery

“We had a plan, we had an ideal, that we would go in and do this as natural as possible… You see a woman (giving birth) and you just go and dig really deep into her soul. And bearing pain and being on top of it you see a strength come out of a woman that you’ve never seen before. And I’d seen a strength come out of her that I’d never seen before. And then the baby comes out, and his eyes are wide open, and he’s glad to see the day. And she’s sewed up and it’s all been fine in post.

It went down perfectly and even though we took 60 hours to do what could’ve been done in a few hours, it was a great journey for the both of us. And her and I now have both gone through something that we call ‘the best dance we ever had’. We call it something like..’I know…and YOU know and ONLY you and I know.” And that’s good for us.

McConaughey has already taken little Levi to a rock concert and introduced him to the red carpet. Meanwhile, his wife has shed every ounce of body weight. Surprised?
