From Backseat Cuddler – I find the more I find out about Leighton Meester the more I like her! This Gossip Girl is taking a stand against domestic violence by raising awareness of the horrible situation.
“I think it’s an issue that everyone can take part in because it applies to everyone. You can be a victim or someone you love can be a victim. The more people are aware, the more it can be prevented.” Meester said as a woman, she has a special interest in the issue. “No matter who is affected by domestic violence, I take it personally, so I think it’s partly my responsibility to talk about it.”
I know I was in a relationship with domestic violence so I think that the more people talk about it, the more women can take a stand for themselves.

Leighton Meester’s upbringing was nothing like that of her Gossip Girl character Blair Waldorf: the actress was born to a mother who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for smuggling marijuana.
As Us Weekly reports in its latest issue, on newsstands now, her mom Connie was pregnant with Leighton when she entered federal prison in Texas. At 29, she gave birth while she was just beginning her sentence following a conviction for her involvement with a drug ring that smuggled 1,200-pound shipments of marijuana into the United States from Jamaica. Her father, Doug, also served time for being part of the smuggling operation. Today, Doug works in construction and Connie is a screenwriter.
“Anything that her mother and I did that was questionable occurred before she was born,” Doug, who split from Connie in 1992, tells Us. “It makes me very nonjudgmental and open-minded,” the 22-year-old tells Us. “And I think it just makes me appreciate the things that I have now.”
Gossip Girl director Michael Fields tells Us: “She’s talked about it a little bit. She’s not a person who is trying to hide it.” Now, Meester and her mom – who was released in 1986 after serving only 16 months – have a solid relationship.”She’s always there for me no matter what,” Meester tells Us. “I swear, that woman knows everything.” Connie returns the affection. “She’s very gifted, she’s very talented, she’s very intelligent,” the 51-year-old tells Us. “I love her dearly.”

Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester is moving from the small screen to the recording studio – the actress is writing her first album. Meester, who plays Blair Waldorf in the hit TV drama, has always enjoyed singing – and is now planning to show off her vocal abilities on her debut disc. She says, “I’ve always done (music) – just now I am actually doing an album that I plan to release.” And the 22-year-old insists she plans to exercise full creative control over the project: “It’s so cool because it’s a completely different creative process (to acting). From beginning to end it’s yours and you make it.
“You can see the finished product. It’s sometimes hard when you’re acting to be like, ‘Oh, I see the finished product right before my eyes.’ So it’s cool you’re there from start to finish when you are writing.” – WENN

CHACE CRAWFORD has hinted his co-stars on TV hit series GOSSIP GIRL do not get along. The actor admits there is particular tension between co-stars Blake Lively and Leighton Meester – but only during filming. He says, “There are obviously always little dramas. You are on set for 16 hours, so people get irritable. In any workplace there are always little things and frustrations.
“Leighton and Blake could not be more different from each other but as far as I know there has never been any real difficulty. We are all good friends and we go out socially together.”

BLAKE LIVELY has laughed off rumours of a feud with UGLY BETTY star AMERICA FERRERA. Ferrera was seen rolling her eyes as Lively was asked about her TV hit Gossip Girl when the pair appeared together on a U.S. news show earlier this month (Aug08). The two actresses were promoting new movie The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, in which they both appear. But Lively insists she and Ferrera are the best of friends – and she doesn’t blame her for appearing exasperated on the news show. Lively explains, “I haven’t even heard about it. I don’t ever pay attention to that stuff.
“She’s one of my best friends in the whole wide world and honestly, when you’re sitting in a room for three hours doing satellite interviews… We were staring at a Post-It (note) with a smiley face, so I think I probably rolled my eyes a hundred times. I’m like, ‘Oh gosh, this thing is still going on?’”

Both are recurring characters on the hit HBO show. “Josh was beaming as he talked about Leighton, whom he called ‘my girl,’” says a partygoer. “You could tell he is crazy about her.” [Star Magazine]
