AP – A judge sentenced “Girls Gone Wild” founder Joe Francis on Friday to 301 days already served and a year of probation for filing false income tax returns and bribing Nevada jail workers.
U.S. District Judge S. James Otero accepted the terms of a plea deal between Francis and prosecutors, who struck the agreement after learning on the eve of trial that a key witness had withheld information from them.
An ecstatic Francis politely answered questions during the hearing then turned and kissed his mother after he was sentenced.
“I think we won that one,” he said after the hearing.
The soft-porn mogul who filmed and marketed videos of young women was indicted by a federal grand jury on tax evasion charges in 2007. He initially was accused of taking $20 million in fraudulent tax deductions.
The district attorney in Los Angeles will not file charges against Joe Francis, Brody Jenner or Jayde Nicole stemming from the fight that went down between the three. According to the report, the D.A. supports the ‘Girls Gone Wild’ founder’s claims that the surveillance video shows that Jayde “appears to have acted without immediate provocation.” The D.A. says “the interests of justice do not support the filing of criminal charges against any of the three suspects.” All three have filed civil suits that are still ongoing.
Brody Jenner was in an epic fight outside of Guys and Dolls this morning, with Girls Gone Wild honcho Joe Francis. Jenner just spoke with us by phone. According to Jenner, he and his girlfriend, Jayde Nicole, were at the club celebrating his birthday, when Jayde saw Francis hitting on an ex-girlfriend of his (Francis’), Jenner says “unrelentingly.” Jayde felt he was harassing the woman — whom Jayde and Brody know — and she threw a drink on Francis. Joe Francis was on Tyra yesterday to discuss his 11-month stint in jail. (He claims he was a political prisoner, and likened himself to Nelson Mandela.) He also talked about a lot of other things, namely, his famous friends. I kinda like the new Joe Francis.
At this point, he’s so rich, and he’s already been to jail, so he doesn’t give a fuck about anything anymore. Tyra ran through a list of famous women he’s dated (Paris Hilton, Tara Reid), and when she got to Lindsay Lohan. Francis refused to say that he dated her. Then he went off on a tangent about how Lindsay is not gay, she’s just being controlled by Sam Ronson, and that Sam tried to start shit with him because she’s jealous.
