Harry Potter

Shots from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
People – Under the headline “Harry Pothead”, Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe’s mug is splashed across Friday’s front page of a British tabloid – showing him in what can only be described as high-spirited party mode.

In the blurry photo, the actor is smoking what the Daily Mirror describes as a “spliff.”

But Radcliffe’s rep insists he’s not smoking what the paper says he’s smoking. “We categorically deny the allegations regarding Daniel Radcliffe published in today’s Daily Mirror,” the rep tells PEOPLE. “Daniel does smoke the occasional roll-up cigarette, but he was not doing anything more than this. We are considering our position and will be taking all necessary action in relation to such allegations.”

The photo of the bleary-eyed Radcliffe, 20, also show him with an elaborate, elongated mustache painted on his face. Party pal Wadia Tazi, 26, tells the Mirror: “Daniel was laughing and seemed to find it funny. But he didn’t really look like he knew what was going on.”

The paper says the party took place in a North London high-rise and was hosted by a friend of Radcliffe’s sometimes girlfriend, actress Laura O’Toole. See what other readers have to say about this story – or leave a comment of your own

When RJ’s anatomical gift is dramatically revealed in front of the whole school, he goes from anonymous to famous and finds his first sliver of confidence. The Vatican has slammed Harry Potter in the past

Reuters – It took a while, but the Vatican has finally come around to giving Harry Potter its blessing. The Vatican newspaper gave a favourable review to the latest film, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” after giving the lead character a decisive thumbs down in the past. The review said the new film “reaches the right balance,” thanks to a “a clear line of demarcation between those who work for good and those who carry out evil”.The Osservatore Romano called it “the best film of the series” even though the books lacked what it called “a reference to the transcendent”. Only last year, an article in the paper called Harry Potter “a wrong model of a hero”.

Pope Benedict is no Harry Potter fan. In 2003, two years before his election, the then Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger wrote in a letter to a German woman that the Harry Potter books contained “subtle seductions” capable of corrupting young Christians. Earlier this year, the pope caused an uproar in the Austrian Church when he tried to promote a priest who had said the Harry Potter stories smacked of “Satanism” and that Hurricane Katrina was God’s punishment for sin in New Orleans. After protests by Austrian Church leaders, the pope was forced to cancel the promotion.

Bruno Gets Edited for Young Audiences

Universal Pictures U.K. is releasing an edited version of Bruno meant for younger audiences to help boost box office, marking the first time two iterations of a film are out at the same time in England, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The “15″-rated edit, submitted to the British Board of Film Classification Monday, is 110 seconds shorter than the “18″-rated original. It eliminates three scenes with what is considered extreme sexual content: a montage of exaggerated sex between Bruno and his boyfriend, Bruno pretending to have oral sex with a dead person he contacts through a medium, and activity at a swingers’ party. Universal said many U.K. movie theaters “have reported turning away large numbers of under 18s keen to see the new film.”

“I really want anonymity.”

Emma Watson reveals she actually would prefer to not be ‘that girl from Harry Potter’ the minute she walks into a room….in the new Teen Vogue

“Harry Potter” actress Emma Watson, 19, is on the cover of Teen Vogue‘s August issue. She looks all grown up, posing in old school Britastic clothing in the English countryside. Despite being famous since she was 10, Emma isn’t really a limelight lover. She is going to college and plans to do it up normal-person style. She’s majoring in English and will even be living with roommates. We understood why she is not all about being famous after she said so many ‘razzi showed up to her 18th birthday that she couldn’t get out the door. She added, “They laid down on the pavement and took pictures up my skirt.” Ugh, talk about barely legal. Check out some other quotes, after the jump. [Teen Vogue]

On acting:

“There’s not, like, a burning passion in me…I have to act and I don’t care what I do. Until something comes along that I feel as strongly about as I did Hermione—like, I felt that it was life or death—I don’t want to act again.” [Wait!Theres Tons More…]

 From Daily Mail -

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has revealed he suffers from dyspraxia – often associated with clumsiness. The condition means the 19-year-old still has trouble tying his shoelaces. Daniel admitted he was a sufferer in an interview to mark his Broadway debut in the play Equus – and he jokingly added: ‘I sometimes think, “Why, oh why, has Velcro not taken off?’’’ Daniel revealed he became an actor partly because his dyspraxia meant he was not successful at school. The common neurological problem impairs the organisation of movement and often has no obvious cause.  It can affect any or all areas of development, including intellectual, physical and language, and can impair a person’s normal process of learning.

Laces done up correctly, Daniel relaxes, but admits he ‘was rubbish at everything at school’ Up to 10 per cent of people in Britain show signs of the condition, with about 2 per cent severely affected.

Males are four times more likely to be affected than women.  It is understood Daniel’s dyspraxia is at the mild end of the spectrum, but in severe cases it can make it difficult to walk up and down stairs or run, hop, jump or kick a ball.

In adults, it can affect a person’s ability to perform in stressful or challenging situations and make tasks such as driving difficult.

The article also hints that the upcoming films might stray a little from the books. The idea presented is that the book series is already complete, and everyone (even many of those who didn’t read the final book) already knows how everything ends. So the films will take on different focuses than you might be expecting. I’s guessing that it won’t be anything too drastically different, but it sure will be interesting.
