Olivia Wilde says that low-cut, shimmering black-and-silver Gucci gown you saw her in at the Golden Globes is going on the auction bloc to raise money for Haitian earthquake victims, and she urged others to do the same with their red-carpet designer duds. The “House M.D.” actress says she will also be donating the shiny Judith Leiber purse she carried to the Globes to the organization Artists for Peace and Justice, which will put them up for auction. She promised 100 percent of the proceeds will go to help earthquake victims.
“I think, for younger actresses, the scrutiny is very, very hard,” Streep said backstage after winning. “The blogs where people comment on their weight and their appearance, endlessly tearing people down. - Rain on the red carpet meant the Beverly Hilton Hotel’s International Ballroom filled up fast this year. With red-carpet schmoozing limited by the weather, nominee Edie Falco and her date got an early start on their dinner. Rex Lee of “Entourage” milled about with a cocktail and Mike Tyson greeted a friend before finding his seat.

Best Motion Picture – Drama
Avatar – Avatar seems to be carrying the momentum.Its stunning visual effects and the breathtaking scenery make Avatar a potential for all around sweep. The Oscars love to reward films like Avatar, that are beautiful to watch on screen. Like Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings or Cameron’s 1997 epic Titanic. James Cameron swept the Oscars with Titanic in much the same way. They clearly will be reaching out to voters following in the same footsteps, making Avatar the strongest of the five films.
The Hurt Locker - The film has surprisingly taken momentum, picking up NYC Film Critics and Critics Choice awards for Best Picture. But will it be enough to steal the Best Picture from Avatar, the box office behometh, that’s now taken in 1.4 billion worldwde?
Inglorious Basterds - The film is a serious contender in the awards race, picking early awards, critical praise, and it was a box office success
Up in the Air - The award traditionally goes to the film nominated for the most awards. With Up in the Air nominated for 6, it could very well go home with Best Picture
