Lauren Conrad is now a No. 1 bestselling author, and she’s already got the second book in a series of chick lit novels that center around her lead character, Jane Roberts.
Sweet Little Lies picks up with the heroine, Jane Roberts who is now a bonafide celebrity, and begins to discover the perks and the problems that come with being famous. For example, some racy photos of her are beginning to leak out to the press, and she gets into a huge fight with her best friend and she begins to realize celebrity life isn’t all the great after all.
The next book is titled Sugar and Spice. It continues the story of the girls and the increased impact the show is having on their lives. In this book, Sugar and Spice, not everyone is nice.
1. You had a whirlwind book tour, 2 weeks and 10 cities. What was your favorite thing about meeting your fans?
Beginning the tour, I didn’t really know what to expect. It was a bit intimidating looking over the schedule of all the stops we were making, but then the tour began. No matter how tired you are from the travel or lack of sleep, arriving at a book store with 1,000+ people waiting for you will make you forget. Every person was so kind and happy to be there. It was such a pleasure meeting everyone who came and now I can’t wait until my next tour!
2. Congratulations on selling the movie rights to L.A. Candy! We would kill to know some details. Do you have any exclusive info you can share?
We are in the very early stages right now, but I am looking forward to all I am going to learn thoughout the development of this movie. Stay tuned for more…
3. In Sweet Little Lies, Jane escapes to Mexico to get away from the media circus. What do you do/where do you go to get away from it all?
My favorite place to go for a quick getaway is Cabo. That is actually why I sent Jane there in L.A. Candy. It’s a beautiful place, full of remote resorts, and it’s a quick flight from L.A. If I ever had to make a quick getaway, Cabo San Lucas would be my first stop.
4. I love the titles of the chapters! Like “Just Another Guy” or “Is That Girl From That Show?” How do you come up with these?
The chapter titles are actually lines within the chapters themselves.
5. Now that we all know the characters, what is your favorite thing about each of them? [Jane, Scarlett, Madison, Braden, Jesse.]
Jane: She can be a bit naive, but tends to see the good in people.
Scarlett: She is intelligent and very strong, but if you are one of the few that she trusts enough to let in, you’ll see a softer side of her.
Madison: As you learn more about Madison, it’s easier to understand her. She is shallow, bitchy, and conniving, but she isn’t heartless.
Braden: He is sweet and laid-back. He basically represents everything Hollywood is not.
Jesse: He is the bad boy that everyone loves. He is good-looking and charming…with a darker side.
6. Can you give us a hint about what Madison is hiding?
Madison is hiding her past. She isn’t the person everyone thinks she is, and there is someone out there who is threatening to expose her for who she really is.
7. So you’re busy working on the next book in the series. Can you give us an inside scoop?
The next book is titled Sugar and Spice. It continues the story of the girls and the increased impact the show is having on their lives. In this book, Sugar and Spice, not everyone is nice.

On Tuesday, as “The Hills” started up again without its original star, Variety announced that “Twilight” executive producers had acquired the rights to Conrad’s debut novel, “L.A. Candy.” Published in June, “L.A. Candy” follows 19-year-old Jane Roberts as she moves to Hollywood and becomes famous after landing on a reality-TV show. AP – If you need your fix of Lauren Conrad now that she’ll no longer be appearing on “The Hills,” cross your fingers: She could be coming to a big screen near you. The former reality star has revealed that a celluloid adaptation of her roman à clef novel, “L.A. Candy,” could be in the works very soon.”We’re hoping for a movie deal,” Conrad told us while hosting the Pool After Dark party at Harrah’s in Atlantic City over the weekend. “I’m working on [adapting the book for the movies] right now, but I don’t want to commit to anything until I see all my options. We have had a lot of exciting news in that respect, though.”As for casting, Conrad has no clue. “I haven’t even thought about it,” she confessed. And we know what that means – Conrad could be playing … herself! Er, we mean the protagonist, Jane Roberts – a girl who moves to Hollywood, gets her own reality show and ends up working at an events company, à la Conrad herself.

Sky News – Lauren Conrad is getting something off her chest…And that’s Heidi Montag’s over exposed bosom. The Hills star has slammed Heidi’s recent Playboy shoot in the rather more upmarket Harper’s Bazaar mag. When Loz was asked why Heidi chose to bare all for Playboy she said of Heid’s boobs: ”They’re not going to pay for themselves.”Strike one.The 23-year-old reality star remains firmly on her high horse as she moans about the Pratts: “I don’t call magazines and let them know about things so they can write stories.”She also slams the newlyweds for wearing masks in Mexico during the recent swine-flu scare following their May wedding: “I don’t know if it was so funny because people really were being affected by that disease.”Touche.Lauren then smoothed over her tirade by saying: “But otherwise (Heidi and Spencer) are very entertaining. You have to laugh.”You sure do, lady, you sure do.
