AP – It seems Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are more than childhood pals and Hollywood collaborators. According to the New England Genealogical Society, they’re also cousins. Tenth cousins, once removed, that is. Society researchers dug up evidence that both Damon and Affleck are descended from William Knowlton Jr. He was a bricklayer who came to the U.S. from England in the 1630s and settled in Ipswich. The society said Friday that Affleck has lots of other famous relatives, including 16 U.S. presidents – Barack Obama among them – and the late Princess Diana. Affleck and Damon were friends growing up in the Boston area and teamed up as writers and co-stars for the 1997 film “Good Will Hunting.”

Producer Frank Marshall revealed plans to begin shooting a fourth Jason Bourne movie next Summer, for release in 2010. Universal announced the project back in February, with director Paul Greengrass and star Matt Damon set to return. Marshall also confirmed that they will probably be creating an original story for the fourth film.

Universal Pictures has made an overall deal with the estate of “The Bourne Identity” author Robert Ludlum that gives the studio exclusive rights to the Jason Bourne character and first look at other Ludlum novels. The deal with Ludlum Entertainment paves the way for more installments in the Bourne saga, which was originally envisioned as a three-picture series but has become Universal’s answer to James Bond. After the first three films grossed a total of more than $1 billion worldwide, U signed Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass for a fourth film that George Nolfi is penning. Produced by Frank Marshall and Ludlum Entertainment chairman-CEO Jeffrey Weiner, the film will be readied for a summer 2010 release. Weiner will take offices on the Universal lot as part of the deal and hire development executives as the company takes an active hand in developing projects, including some not based on books by Ludlum. Weiner was the author’s accountant for 16 years before being tapped by Ludlum to be estate executor and to run the holding company that produces his movies and publishes his books and videogames. “Universal has done such an excellent job with the first three films that they deserve the opportunity to keep Jason Bourne at the studio forever,” Weiner told Daily Variety. From AP – CABARET, Haiti — Matt Damon kept his cool as he helped distribute food from a truck that got stuck in the mud in a western Haitian town where Hurricane Ike left hundreds of people homeless and hungry.  He arrived with Haitian-born singer Wyclef Jean to hand out rice, beans and cooking oil in Cabaret, a town that saw 60 people die in flash floods when Ike grazed Haiti last week.  Things got rough when the truck carrying 300 bags of food ran into a ditch, forcing the rest of the caravan to stop. Hundreds of Haitians mobbed an SUV carrying the celebrities, chanting “Wyclef!”  “I want to see Wyclef because he is my artist,” said Jean Sadrac, an unemployed 25-year-old. “I want Wyclef to help me with money or water.”  Jean clambered onto the roof of the SUV to calm the crowd, while bodyguards helped Damon make his way toward the truck with the food. He reached it easily; nobody recognized him.  Damon said he enjoyed being in a place where few people have seen his movies.

Matt Damon’s wife Luciana gave birth to a baby girl Wednesday, his spokeswoman said. The baby’s name is Gia Zavala Damon, spokeswoman Jennifer Allen told The Associated Press, adding: “Everyone is great and she is a healthy, beautiful baby girl.”

She wouldn’t give any further details.

Damon, 37, met wife Luciana, 32, in 2003 while she was working as a bartender in Florida and he was filming “Stuck on You.” They tied the knot in December 2005 in New York during a private ceremony attended by the bride’s daughter, Alexa, now 10, from a previous marriage.

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck met up with Matt Damon and his very pregnant wife at Nobu Malibu for a two hour dinner on the patio. It seems like they haven’t seen each other in a while, because Jen and Ben have been out of the public eye in Boston and Matt’s been doing a lot of stuff (filming movies)
It seemed like they were having a good time, there was a lot of laughing and they toasted
because it was Jen and Ben’s third wedding anniversary. Forget those divorce rumors, they seem to be doing pretty good.
