Reuters – Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan, fresh out of jail on charges of violating her probation, may be released early from a court-ordered stint in drug and alcohol rehabilitation, a prosecutor said on Thursday.

Danette Meyers, who recently prosecuted Lohan for violating probation on drunken driving charges, told celebrity news website RadarOnline.com that the “Mean Girls” star may be able to avoid her full 90-day sentence in rehab.

“My understanding from conversations with Shawn Chapman Holley (Lohan’s attorney) is that Miss Lohan could be released early from the treatment facility,” Meyers told RadarOnline.com. “It is looking as if that (early release) is what the health care professionals are going to recommend.”

Meyers said she was unsure exactly when Lohan might get out and that a release date would depend on recommendations from people treating the actress. The prosecutor further said that Lohan may have to undergo “follow up treatment.”

Lohan, 24, rose to fame in Disney movies like “Freaky Friday,” but began to see her career fall apart as Hollywood’s nightlife caught up with her. In 2007, she was arrested for drunken driving and cocaine possession and served 84 minutes in jail along with being put on probation.

In July, a California judge sentenced Lohan to 90 days in jail and another 90 days in rehab for missing alcohol education classes imposed as part of her probation on the 2007 charges.

Her prison sentence was cut to 13 days due to overcrowding and on August 2, she left a jail to enter rehab at a facility at the University of California Los Angeles, where she is currently.

AP – Lindsay Lohan has been released from jail, but she’s not exactly a free woman.

The actress was discharged at 1:35 a.m. Monday after serving 14 days of a 90-day sentence for violating her probation in a 2007 drug case, a sheriff’s spokesman said. She is now required to begin a three-month stint in rehab.

A prosecutor has said that Lohan cannot be released early and will have to spend the entire time in treatment.

Lohan’s abbreviated stay was not unexpected, although it was considerably longer than the 84 minutes she spent at the same facility in 2007. The judge said during Lohan’s surrender on July 20 that she had no control over how long the actress would be jailed, but did require her to serve her time at a women’s jail operated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Lohan’s attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, did not immediately return an e-mail message seeking comment.

A judge in Beverly Hills, Calif., had ordered Lohan to report to rehab within a day of her release from jail, but shortened that time last week after conferring with Lohan’s attorney and a prosecutor. Los Angeles sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said Monday that the actress was required to report directly to rehab.

Inmates such as Lohan, 24, who are serving time for nonviolent offenses typically have their stays reduced due to overcrowding and credits for good behavior.

Media have been camped outside the jail since Lohan was booked July 20, catching shots of her mother and sister coming to v

HollywoodNews.com: Ever since Lindsay Lohan has been sentenced to 90 days in prison, old friends of hers have been popping up to help support her.

Ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson has been hanging out with Lohan lately and many have started to wonder why. A source told People, “Sam wanted to distance herself from Lindsay when they split up. But Sam never stopped caring. She genuinely cares about Lindsay and just wants to see her get better.”

The source added, “She gets it, she knows what Lindsay is going through and she knows she needs good people around her helping her down the right path.”

It’s good to hear that Lohan hasn’t burned all her bridges….yet.

Aceshowbiz – Family and friends were spotted visiting Lindsay Lohan as the troubled actress is due to surrender to authorities on July 20 to begin her prison term for breaking the terms of her probation from a 2007 DUI arrest. Among Lindsay’s visitors were her ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson and defense attorney, Robert Shapiro.

On Sunday, July 18, DJ Samantha, in her bright T-shirt and jeans, was spotted leaving Pickford Lofts sober living facility, the sober house where Lindsay voluntarily checked in. Also snapped at the place was Lindsay’s sister Ali Lohan. In a gray relaxed-fit tank top and hot pants, Ali picked up three gold bags outside the facility’s door.

British model/socialite Lady Victoria Hervey, who became Lindsay’s friend after they met at the Cannes Film Festival in France back in May, was also seen arriving at the facility. In a white ensemble, Lady Victoria was seen bringing a big bag along with her.

Moreover, Lindsay’s assistant was also spotted making a visitation to the 24-year-old actress/singer. Beside friends and family, the star’s defense attorney, Robert, was also seen outside the sober house. He recently released a statement mentioning he has “agreed to represent Ms. Lohan on the condition she complies with all terms of probation including a requirement of jail imposed by Judge Marsha Revel.”

Lindsay herself reportedly has been in obsessive denial over her surrender on Tuesday, when she must begin serving a 90-day jail sentence. Sources told TMZ that she is convinced there is still a way she can avoid jail, although Robert has made it clear that he would only rep her only if she went to prison.

Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan sparked a near riot overnight in jail as unrest grew over what inmates claim is preferential treatment.

They furiously chanted threats and hammered on their cell walls, while others refused to leave their cells for recreation or meals.

A source at Lynwood Prison, Los Angeles, said: “Wardens are being easy on Lindsay. She has her own cell and doesn’t have to mix with other inmates.

“She is crying and talking to wardens and keeping others awake. Her preferential treatment is causing a lot of resentment.”

Lohan, 24, is said to be shunning carbohydrates but has made demands for Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.

The actress was sentenced to 90 days for breaking probation terms following two drink-driving offences.

But she could serve just 14 days and be out by Sunday before mandatory rehab.

PEOPLE – Two down, 12 more to go.

Lindsay Lohan’s mother Dina and sister Ali visited the jail for more than an hour Wednesday, but only saw the actress for about 30 minutes. They departed stern-faced without commenting to reporters. With them during the stay was Lohan’s business manager, Lou Taylor.

Visiting hours at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, Calif., are on weekends for family and friends, though the jail can make exceptions. Family members also may leave money for an inmate’s account to buy snacks, toiletries and stationery.

Lindsay, meanwhile, has “slept soundly for most of her time in custody” but has been worrying about her safety, a jail insider tells PEOPLE.

According to the source, Lohan, 24, who is likely to serve two weeks of a 90-day sentence for violating probation in a DUI case, has expressed her fears of being housed with other inmates, even though she’s been repeatedly reassured she’ll be kept isolated in her own cell.

But, the source says, Lohan has been “cooperative,” and she appears to be adjusting to life behind bars slowly – and satiating her appetite. Wednesday morning, she ate the jail’s typical breakfast of cold cereal and a hard-boiled egg and has “devoured all the food served to her” since she was booked, says the source.
