Over the past several weeks, my team and I have had conversations with many of you to help address your questions about the future of “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” Of course, the one question we couldn’t answer was the one that only Oprah could. And tomorrow, she will do just that.
But before she speaks to her loyal viewers, we wanted to share her decision first with you — our valued partners for more than two decades.
Oprah will announce live on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” that she has decided to end what is arguably one of the most popular, influential and enduring programs in television history. The sun will set on the “Oprah” show as its 25th season draws to a close on September 9, 2011.
We welcome you to share this news this evening with your colleagues and viewers. As we all know, Oprah’s personal comments about this on tomorrow’s live show will mark an historic television moment that we will all be talking about for years to come.
We want to thank you for the partnership and friendship we have shared over the years. Your invaluable support has helped us to create the phenomenon of the “Oprah Show” that we’ve all been so proud to be a part of for the last 24 years. My staff and I will be calling all of you directly tonight and tomorrow. We look forward to speaking with you.
And, if you think the last quarter century has been something, then “don’t touch that dial” as together we plan to make history in the next 20 months … and beyond.
Yours sincerely,
Tim Bennett

… when he was a guest on her show recently. Givens wrote a fiery letter to Winfrey after watching the Tyson special last month. The actress criticized the talk show host for allowing the former boxer to trash talk his ex-wife. Givens appeared on the Oprah show on Friday and fought back angry tears as she mentioned that she sat in disbelief as Oprah’s studio audience chuckled while Tyson admitted he wanted to “sock her.” Oprah then offered Givens a personal apology.

Oprah Winfrey’s production company Harpo and a US insurance firm have reached an amicable settlement over rights to the phrase “aha moment”.
Earlier this year, Harpo asked the Mutual of Omaha to stop using the phrase to promote its products and creating an association with Winfrey.
The talk show host has often used the slogan on her programme to describe “flashes of understanding”.
Representatives for Harpo and Mutual declined to give any further details.

The Omaha-based company responded to Harpo’s request with legal action stating it had obtained preliminary approval of a trademark on “aha moment”.
Mutual also said it had conceived the slogan in early 2008 and encountered no opposition when it made its application to the US patents office. -BBC

Nearly one year to the day after Discovery Communications’ top dog said Oprah Winfrey would stop syndicating her talk show in September of 2011 and move it to Discovery’s new Oprah Winfrey Network, a blog report saying Oprah will stop syndicating her talk show in September of 2011 and move it to OWN gave The Reporters Who Cover Television the vapors.
“She has not made a decision yet,” Winfrey’s Harpo Productions said Thursday in a stern e-mail to hyperventilating reporters.
“As she has previously stated, she’ll be making an announcement before the end of the year.”
That statement is virtually identical to the scolding Harpo issued within hours of Discovery Communications CEO David Zaslov’s crack about Oprah moving her talkshow to OWN — a comment he made at his company’s first earnings call as a public company back in early November of ‘08.
Back then Harpo said, patronizingly, that “while David Zaslov’s comment are true that Oprah’s current contract to produce ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ will expire in 2011, she has not made a final decision as to whether she will continue her show in syndication beyond that.”
From which we learned Oprah really does not like men to make her announcements for her.

.Showbiz Spy – MEDIA mogul Oprah Winfrey is so worried her former lover Stedman Graham will spill her secrets, she’s prepared to offer $150 million to buy his silence, it has been claimed.
The pair — who had been together since 1986 — apparently split in August after Graham told Winfrey he was “tired of being disrespected” and moved out of their luxury 5,000- square-foot Chicago apartment.
According to the National Enquirer, Oprah is also struggling to overcome a mountain of personal and professional headaches.
“Oprah has not been THIS unhappy in a long time!” a source told the tabloid.

Actress-singer Mackenzie Phillips talked about being raped by her father and their subsequent consensual relationship, then came back a couple days later to talk more. Oprah was incest victim too… molested by male relative . So she can empathize with Mackenzie.

Don’t expect Oprah to ever marry Stedman Graham. Oprah told a TV news anchor (in Atlanta), “Had we made the official marriage commitment, we wouldn’t still be together. “The reason the relationship works is that we get to define it on our terms. It would be very different if we were in a ‘traditional’ relationship where I was expected to be a wife and every now and then cook a meal!”
