Actor Corey Haim died from pneumonia complicated by an enlarged heart and narrowed blood vessels, while drugs found in his system played no role in his death, the Los Angeles County coroner said Tuesday. Haim, 38, died of natural causes from “community-acquired pneumonia” that damaged his lungs, according to an autopsy report.Low levels of eight drugs, including both prescription and over-the-counter medications, were found in his system along with marijuana, coroner’s spokesman Craig Harvey said.”But nothing was at a level that would have contributed to his death,” Harvey said.They included tranquilizers and some common cold and flu medications, such as ibuprofen and a cough-suppressant, the report said.
CNN – The Los Angeles coroner’s ruling on what killed Corey Haim last month should be released this week, according to an investigator.While those closest to the 1980s teen actor say they don’t think he overdosed, California Attorney General Jerry Brown last week called Haim “the poster child” for the problem of addicts “doctor shopping” for dangerous drugs.Haim, 38, died on March 10 after collapsing at the Los Angeles apartment he shared with his mother.The coroner has been waiting on toxicology lab results before deciding the primary cause of Haim’s death, Los Angeles County deputy coroner Ed Winter said. With that completed, the coroner is wrapping up the autopsy report, he said.The initial autopsy examination revealed Haim suffered from pneumonia and had water on his lungs and an enlarged heart, Winter said.His family suspected Haim’s sudden death was caused by a bad reaction to a single pill given to him by an addiction specialist who was treating Haim, his manager Mark Heaslip said.Although he battled drug addiction for decades, his death came when Haim “was making major progress” with a program to wean him from pills, Heaslip said.
The 911 tape in Corey Haim’s sudden death has been released by authorities. On the tape, his mother is heard calling paramedics from a Los Angeles apartment last week to report her son isn’t breathing and that he’s fallen ill.
Police have called his death an apparent prescription drug overdose, but toxicology reports are still being waited on.
Corey Haim has been laid to rest in his hometown of Toronto. About 200 friends and family attended the service for the late teen heartthrob, who died on March 10 at the age of 38.
The service was 45 minutes long, and held at the Steeles Memorial Chapel. Several police cars were spotted monitoring the scene.
There were a lot of laughs and memories shared, according to the Toronto Star.
An arrest has apparently been made in the illegal prescription drug ring linked to Corey Haim. According to E! Online, the California Attorney Generals office confirmed the arrest.
Agents found records in a state database that show an illegal prescription written for Haim for the painkiller Oxycotin. The drug ring is accused of selling fake prescription pads on the street for drug addicts. Authorities say the actor died from a lethal prescription overdose.
Corey Haim has been linked to a drug ring that either “sells the pads on the street to addicts or to people who then fill out the forms and obtain the drugs for illegal distribution,” according to the AP. Corey Haim’s name was found on a fradulant prescription for the painkiller Oxycotin. Coroner officials have still not determined what killed the 38 year old.

In the past year alone, Michael Jackson, DJ. AM, Britney Murphy and heiress Casey Johnson have all been under the microscope for death from drugs.
Apparently, Corey Haim is the latest celebrity to have died from drug and prescription drug abuse. TMZ reports that vicodin, valium, haloperidol were all found inside his apartment.
