Kate Gosselin came up against tough competition on Sunday night as her show “Kate Plus 8″ aired on TLC at the same time as the Lakers vs. Celtics NBA finals game, the Stanley Cup finals and the MTV Movie Awards were all also broadcast.
Entertainment Weekly’s Ken Tucker thought two hours of Gosselin drama should have been called “The Horror, The Horror,” but the roughly 3.4 million viewers who were onboard for the first 60 minutes seem to have disagreed. The “Kate Plus 8″ episode included the sextuplets’ sixth birthday party, and close to three million people reportedly also tuned in for “Inside Kate’s World,” the second hour-long special.
Gosselin is also planning to air an additional show on TLC this fall called “Twist of Kate.” The show will feature the mom of eight meeting families across the U.S. who struggle with differing challenges, while she attempts to “walk a mile in their shoes.”
The next episode of “Kate Plus 8″ will air on June 11.

Popeater – Kate Gosselin didn’t manage to dance her way past week five on ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ but she did manage to dance all the way to the bank, earning over half a million dollars for her stint on the hit show. Yep, with some simple math, that means Kate banked more than most people make annually for each episode that she fox-trotted across the dance floor. “Kate earned over $100,000 per week on ‘Dancing,’” an insider tells me. “She’s a single mom who has to pay the bills and feed those eight little mouths all by herself. Say what you want about her, but Kate will do anything to make sure her children have a bright future. Even making a fool out of herself on national TV.”
It’s unclear if Kate earned more money on the show each week than the other stars, however, one producer tells me he believes she did. “Kate was without doubt the main attraction to the show this year. She is ratings gold and can demand much more money than soap hunk Aiden Turner. Who? Precisely.”

AP – Reality TV mom Kate Gosselin has one fewer job to juggle. The author and reality star was eliminated Tuesday from “Dancing With the Stars,” leaving seven couples in the competition.Gosselin failed to ignite the ballroom, landing near the bottom of the judges’ leaderboard during five weeks of dancing. She and professional partner Tony Dovolani came into Tuesday’s results show with the week’s lowest score: 15 points out of 30 for a lackluster foxtrot. “I think Tony could have had more life out of a frock on a coat hanger,” judge Bruno Tonioli said Monday.Judges’ scores are combined with viewer votes to determine which celebrity is eliminated each week.Dovolani praised his partner [Wait!Theres Tons More…]

Us Mag – While promoting her new book I Just Want You to Know, Kate Gosselin denied her ex Jon’s claims that she is choosing fame over her kids. (Last week, Jon, 33, filed papers dubbing Kate, 35, an “absentee” mom and asking a Pennsylvania judge for primary custody of their eight children.) “I am a working mom and cameras are on me, so people catch me traveling or working,” she said on the Today show Tuesday (see clip, above). “I’ve got to work harder now than ever because I am a single mom and in my heart, I am always in my kitchen baking and cooking for my kids, and I will always be there. It is a struggle to be here … I would rather be at home with them. But I have to work. I have to provide for them. It’s a struggle every single mom goes through.”Juggling Dancing With the Stars and motherhood is hard, she said. “I am on the first flight as soon as the show lets me out, and that’s my night of sleep,” she said. “I get home and I dance and I am done by the time they get home from school and I spend the rest of the week with them. It’s difficult.” Despite her hectic schedule, she said she makes “the most of every minute I do have with them.” Added Kate, “They know I have to work … they don’t like it. But when I am home, we make those little spots of time really big in our memories.”

All Kate, all the time! Kate Gosselin has scored yet another TV engagement. On Wednesday, the 35 year-old will be a special co-host on Entertainment Tonight alongside Mary Hart. Her ex Jon Gosselin has appeared on ET’s sister show The Insider. In addition to her current stint on Dancing with the Stars, the single mother of eight — who appeared on The View last year — will headline her own TLC series Twist of Kate, airing this summer. Her kids will also be returning to the small screen in a series of specials on the cable network. “They’re very excited,” she said last week. But the busy Hollywood newcomer bristles at her ex-husband’s charge that she has chosen fame over her children.”I would rather be at home with [my kids],” she said on the Today Show Tuesday. “But I have to work. I have to provide for them. It’s a struggle every single mom goes through.”

PopEater – Kate Gosselin is certainly famous, and now the mom of eight and current ‘Dancing With the Stars’ contestant wants to stay famous by making a move out west. Yep, the octomom is in the market for a house in Hollywood and a new agent, according to her pals. Details on Kate’s Hollywood dreams, plus Conan scoop, after the jump! Sources tell me that in between dance practices, Kate Gosselin has been house hunting in the Hollywood Hills for a mansion big enough for her and her eight kids.”Now that Kate has tasted the excitement of Hollywood, there is no way that she is going to return to Pennsylvania,” a friend of Kate’s tells me. “She is looking at homes in the Hollywood Hills in gated communities in the $2 million range. Kate is insisting the properties she sees have a pool, at least six bedrooms, an outdoor hot tub and, bizarrely, a recording studio!” And it’s not just a home that Kate has been looking for in Los Angeles. Sources tell me she has been meeting with agents, managers and publicists. “Kate wants to be a movie star,” one insider tells me. “Kate thinks that after Jennifer Aniston’s last few films didn’t do so well, America needs a new girl next door. And who better to fill Jen’s shoes than Kate!” That’s right. Because when I think girl next door, the first thing that jumps to mind is a single mother of eight with more public baggage than Grand Central Station. Keep dreaming, Kate, and please don’t tell us you are planning to record an album, too.

Gloss.com – Kate Gosselin looked like she was having fun tonight on Dancing with the Stars! Kate looked relaxed!
The judges gave the mom of eight kudos for her dance moves. It’s amazing that Kate looked so relaxed on the dance floor, considering the court battle that Jon Gosselin began last week.
Last week, Jon Gosselin filed for primary custody of the former couple’s eight children. Gosselin is claiming Kate is an absentee mom due to her new TV gig on DWTS.
Today Kate’s attorney Mark Momjian fired some zingers at Jon via celebrity website TMZ.com:
“He’s never questioned her ability to provide for their children. He’s out of the limelight, while 23 million people are watching Kate on Dancing with the Stars,” Momjian told TMZ on the day Jon filed the request.
“Do I think his motivation is the children’s best interest. Squarely no.” [Wait!Theres Tons More…]

TLC’s descriptions of the two shows:
Twist of Kate: In this new series, Kate Gosselin travels around the country to find out how other people juggle work, family and all the other challenges life throws at them. In each episode, she’ll walk a mile in someone else’s shoes — meeting real families in the middle of their own extraordinary challenges. She’ll try out their jobs… see what they’re up against… and find out what they do to let off steam. Each family will have some unique circumstance that is a story in itself. As Kate gets to know them she’ll roll up her sleeves and see what she can do to help.
Kate Plus Eight: Beginning this June, limited specials will follow Kate and the kids on new adventures – from activities at home to exciting field trips, viewers will experience all the fun with the family.

Kate Gosselin is getting promoted a lot in the upcoming season. I bet it’s upsetting stars and causing tension on the set.
Page Six – Kate Gosselin is being a “total diva” on the set of “Dancing With the Stars” — snubbing other contestants and behaving frostily to crew members, sources tell Page Six. The recently divorced mom of eight has been rehearsing for the ABC show, which starts its new season March 22. Her icy behavior also persuaded Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir to pull out of talks about being on the show because he didn’t want to work alongside Gosselin. A “DWTS” source said, “Kate doesn’t want anything to do with other contestants . . . While there’s a lot of camaraderie among the crew and other stars including Pamela Anderson, Kate has set herself apart . . . She wants to be queen bee.” Gosselin’s rep didn’t get back to us. A show source said, “She’s been rehearsing in Pennsylvania to be near her kids. For the short time she was in LA, she and the cast got along great.”

Kate Gosselin’s got a new look – Again.
After debuting her new longer length hairstyle, she went back to her celebrity stylist, Ted Gibson from What not to Wear, for another haircut and had about four inches taken off the top.
