A nanny who worked for Anna Nicole Smith told an investigator the Playboy model’s boyfriend and psychiatrist persuaded her to take drugs that left her sleeping for as long as three days, the investigator testified Thursday.
Department of Justice investigator Danny Santiago read portions of his interview with nanny Nadine Alexie during a preliminary hearing.
The excerpts had been selected from a thick transcript by Superior Court Judge Robert J. Perry, who said he had tried to excise the more inflammatory sections of the multi-hour interview on Sept. 29-30 in the Bahamas. -AP

AP – An anguished bodyguard, saying he had to tell what he knew about Anna Nicole Smith’s death “or I’m going to die,” testified Wednesday that he saw her boyfriend-lawyer Howard K. Stern inject her with a sedative at a time before her death when she was begging for something to help her sleep. Maurice Brighthaupt said he had seen Stern inject Smith with medications four or five times in Florida and the Bahamas, and also watched the celebrity model’s psychiatrist, Dr. Khristine Eroshevich, inject her once but did not specify the drug. Howard K. Stern’s lawyer said just because Anna Nicole Smith’s former bodyguard testified Howard liquefied Valium and injected it into Anna does not make it true. Steve Sadow said when he cross-examines “Big Moe” tomorrow, there will be plenty of reasons for “serious doubt.”

The first witness in the preliminary hearing over Anna Nicole Smith’s prescription drug death testified authorities found a baby bottle of Pedialyte on her bed, along with a bottle of Cipro.Pedialyte is used to rehydrate children when they experience diarrhea and vomiting. AP – Two doctors and the lawyer-boyfriend of Anna Nicole Smith are due in court to hear what government witnesses have to say about their alleged roles in supplying drugs that killed the celebrity model.A preliminary hearing for Howard K. Stern, Dr. Sandeep Kapoor and Dr. Khristine Eroshevich is scheduled Tuesday before a judge who will decide whether there is sufficient evidence to order them to stand trial.All three have pleaded not guilty to conspiring to illegally provide Smith with controlled substances. The hearing is expected to take two weeks with a parade of witnesses including attorney general investigators, pharmacists, acquaintances of Smith and experts on the interaction of various drugs.
