AP – Adam Sandler suffered his worst opening at the North American box office in almost five years on Sunday with “Funny People,” a chart-topping comedy darker than the low-brow fare beloved by his young fans. According to studio estimates, the film sold $23.4 million worth of tickets in the three days since opening across the United States and Canada on Friday. It’s the lowest start for a No. 1 movie since Jim Carrey’s “Yes Man” launched with $18.3 million last December.

Have you ever seen Adam Sandler perform standup??? He’s hillllarrious…..But new reports suggest he has suddenly decided NOT to return to Stand up….

By the way, in my continued attempt to break down this illusion that Famous people are always surrounded by paparazzi. My friend and I were walking down the street, and we saw Adam Sandler walk by with this girl, and he wasn’t surrounded by paparazzi or anything… And he wasn’t covered in a hat and sunglasses or anything….It was Just Adam Sandler, walking down the street with a friend….No, it only happens around people like ’Lindsay Lohan’, who I swear have incorporated it as part of their ‘celeb image’….

Page Six – THE staff of Irish America magazine must have quaffed a wee too much Guinness while they were writing about Adam Sandler in the current issue. The Brooklyn-born Jewish comic is identified as “Irish on his mother Anne Meara’s side.” Meara, of course, is the mom of Ben Stiller.

“It was just sort of brain blip, I guess,” editor-in-chief Patricia Harty told us. “We’re sure Adam won’t mind because he loves Ireland and loves Guinness. We’ll make him an Irish citizen.”
