The Sun –

AMERICAN Idol runner-up Adam Lambert has claimed that using LSD helped him to become a pop star.

The controversial singer said taking the hallucinogenic drug spurred him on to apply for the US talent show.

Adam, 28, said: “My trip led me to some epiphanies about who I was as a performer, what I wanted to do and how I needed to create my own opportunities.”When I got home, I started writing music with other people and went to the Idol audition. The vision was about finding opportunities. I wasn’t sitting in the desert in rave-wear thinking about Simon Cowell when I was on acid.”

In American Idol news,American Idol handily won the ratings battle on both nights of its season premiere. Tuesday’s show pulled an average of 29.9 million viewers; Wednesday’s numbers were off somewhat, to 26.3 million, but still outpaced the competition on other networks. Ellen Degeneres had a few words to say on her daytime show about her first day of filming.

“I couldn’t watch American Idol last night because I was busy working on American Idol last night,” Ellen said.  “As I mentioned, we’re taping Hollywood Week, which starts airing Feb. 9, but we’re taping right now so I already know who makes it to Hollywood. … If you have a good bookie let me know. She called her first day of filming a “very late, late” night. “Usually I’m in bed by 9:00 p.m. Seriously. Or 9:15, if I’m feeling crazy.  But last night we were there until today.”

Adam Lambert Steps Out In NYC!
UsMag -Adam Lambert is trying to keep his chin up.ABC — which already cancelled his Good Morning America performance in the wake of his provocative AMAs number — has dumped Lambert again. And again!

Lambert Tweeted Tuesday, “Yes, sadly friends, ABC has cancelled my appearance on Kimmel and NYE.” The singer, 27, suggests the network isn’t exactly to blame for nixing his Jimmy Kimmel Live and New Year’s Eve appearance.
“Don’t blame them,” he writes. “It’s the FCC heat.”

(The Federal Communication Commission could potentially fine ABC if its programming is found objectionable; ABC received more than 1500 complaints as a result of Lambert’s AMAs show, in which he simulated oral sex and kissed his keyboardist.)

Memorable night: see the best-dressed at the 2009 American Music Awards

The American Idol runner up adds that he’s not gig-less by any stretch: “I AM doing Leno though. And lookin into something for NYE … It’ll all blow over. Let’s focus on being positive! :)

Publicly, Lambert has said he has no plans to apologize for his AMAs set, and that “my intention was to interpret the lyrics of my song and have a good time.”
Yet, privately, an insider says in the new issue of Us Weekly, “he’s freaking out. He’s trying not to piss people off; he’s trying to push buttons as an artist.”

Adam Lambert Visits CBS "The Early Show"
-
Adam Lambert hasn’t always been as comfortable in his skin as he appeared during his hypersexed AMA performance. Back in high school he was the fat kid–and now getting a reaction from his audiences helps him love what he sees in the mirror when he takes off all the makeup.

“I suffered from a little bit of an ugly duckling complex early in my twenties and definitely in my teens,” he told Morning Jolt’s Larry Flick on Sirius radio. “When I was in high school I was 250 pounds and that creates some stuff…some body image stuff, some confidence issues and I got a lot of my confidence from the validation I got as a performer.”

In the second clip Lambert talks about the meaning behind the track “Soaked,” which was written by Muse’s Matt Bellamy, off his new album For Your Entertainment.

“I think the lyrics to me personally are about one night stands,” he said. “Being soaked in booze…searching for something to fill that void… And you see that guy at the bar, or that girl, or that tranny, and they’re just searching, and it’s always the same thing and that’s what the song says…it’s not the first time, it’s not the worst crime and your soul will be OK.”

Adam Lambert finally admitted that his performance at the American Music Awards probably wasn’t the best way to make a good first impression. Adam told Ellen DeGeneres: “It was maybe a little too far. I think in hindsight I look back on it and I go, ‘OK, maybe that wasn’t the best first impression to make again, the first second impression.’ I mean, I had fun up there, I had a good time, my dancers had fun and the band had fun. I respect people and feel like people walked away from that feeling disrespected. I would never intend to disrespect anybody. So that was not my intention.” But Ellen told Adam that she feels there’s a double standard on TV when it comes to male vs. female sexuality.
She said: “My whole thing is I feel like if you’re offended by a show of sexuality on stage, then you should be offended by all shows of sexuality. It should be all forms.” [Wait!Theres Tons More…]

2009 American Music Awards - Rehearsals
…. and he’s been in love just the once. He said: “My life has changed so much, I’m not sure what my needs are anymore. At the moment, it’s probably difficult to have a relationship. I’m going to be doing a lot of growing in the next couple years. I’ve only been in two relationships, and really in love just one time. That’s one part of my life I’m learning about, my heart.”

Village Voice – Ever since American Idol’s mascara-wearing runner-up Adam Lambert came out, it seems his people can’t wait to get him back in a little.

In the new Out 100 issue of Out–which I write for–editor Aaron Hicklin pens a sharp letter criticizing Lambert’s management for their namby-pambiness in trying to re-cloak his sexuality. Lambert gave the magazine a terrific interview, but his handlers were not so glorious, alas.

Says Hicklin:

*Adam’s people were reluctant to let him appear on the cover. They only let it happen if it was a group shot, preferably including someone straight. (This even though Out was first in line, ages ago, in asking for a Lambert cover. Somehow Details was granted a crack at him first, presenting the singer caressing a barely clad woman and talking about kissing girls, though he did also manage to get in the fact that he’s gay).

*Out was urged not to make Adam too gay in the shot.

*They were also informed that Adam probably wouldn’t be able to attend an Out 100 event because they didn’t want to jeopardize his record sales.

Some progress, huh? I’m starting to feel better that I voted for the other guy.

2012 Premieres in LA!
-
Adam Lambert and Drake LaBry are over.A source confirms to Usmagazine.com that the American Idol runner-up, 27, and the interior designer, 24, have ended their relationship.
“They’re still friends, and it’s totally mutual,” the source tells Us. “They will still talk and see each other.”And there’s very little drama behind the split, the pal says. It’s all about timing — and Lambert’s on-the-launchpad career.

Look back on the most recent American Idol finale”Adam is crazy busy right now getting the album done and squeezing in rehearsals,” the source tells Us, referring to Lambert’s debut album, For Your Entertainment, out Nov. 23. “They both felt this moment is too important for Adam to focus on anything else but getting this album out and having it be a huge hit.”
Lambert officially came out to the public in June via a Rolling Stone cover story. “I don’t think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear that I’m gay,” he told the magazine. That same month, he and LaBry were first spotted holding hands and getting “very flirtatious” at West Hollywood club Guys and Dolls. -UsMag

Premiere Of Sony Pictures' "This Is It" - Arrivals
Adam Lambert admitted that the artwork for his debut album, For Your Entertainment”, is “deliberately campy”. Adam went on Twitter and wrote: “Thank you to those who appreciate and understand that the album cover is deliberately campy. It’s an homage to the past. It IS ridiculous. For those that don’t get it: oh well. Glad to have gotten your attention. Androgyny. Rock n Roll.” “For Your Entertainment” drops November 23rd.
