Brittany Murphy’s husband Simon Monjack died from pneumonia, the same illness that killed his actress wife months earlier, coroner’s officials said Wednesday.
Monjack, 40, had a slightly enlarged heart and some prescription medications were found in his body, but not at levels that contributed to his death, Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said.
Monjack was found dead May 23 at the Hollywood Hills home he shared with his actress wife and her mother. Officials initially suspected a heart attack and confirmed Wednesday that Monjack died of natural causes.
Winter said the deaths of British-born screenwriter and Murphy had been referred to county health officials since they died of pneumonia, but did not know if an investigation was ongoing. The health department declined comment.
A list of medications was not immediately available but would be included in a full report issued in about two weeks, Winter said. – AP

“We are now investigating two possibilities of what caused Monjack to die,” Winter said. “First, a heart attack and second an accidental overdose. We just have to wait for the autopsy and [toxicology] reports, which will take four to six weeks to be completed.” Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Louie Lozano told RadarOnline.com exclusively early Monday that “the preliminary cause of death for Mr. Monjack seems to be natural causes.”
Lozano confirmed that “no weapons were found at the scene,” and that the LAPD will not be involved in the investigation, leaving it to the coroner “since there was no indication of foul play or criminal activity.” Simon’s Never-Before-Seen Photos Of Brittany Murphy Winter, who said he had met and spoken with Monjack following Murphy’s December 20 death, characterized Monjack as “a despondent husband.” Winter said Monjack was found dead in the master bedroom at 9:45 p.m. Sunday, and “there were no illicit drugs located — just precipitation medications,” though he wouldn’t reveal which specific ones were found. Monjack’s last interview was given to RadarOnline.com on May 13, where the grief-stricken widower showed off the gravestone he picked out for Murphy while discussing the public’s perception of his late wife.

From TMZ - Brittany Murphy left her entire estate to her mother, Sharon, TMZ has learned. Sources tell us, years before Brittany was married she wrote a holographic (handwritten) will, leaving everything to her mom. The will was stored in her manager’s safe. Brittany’s husband, Simon Monjack, told TMZ after they got married Brittany had a formal will drafted, along with a trust. Simon tells us all of her assets under the new will and trust go to Sharon. Simon tells us, at his request, the will specifically says, “I am married to Simon Monjack who I have intentionally left out of this will.”
I the wake of Brittany Murphys death,Perez Hilton reported that security measures at Forest Lawn Memorial Park are so high that no one could get access to Britney Murphy’s grave, not even her father. Angelo Bertolotti tried to pay his respects to his daughter but wasn’t allowed on the grounds because he couldn’t verify he was Britney Murphy’s father. When security checked the death certificate, his name wasn’t listed. He’s headed to the LA Coroner’s Office to fix the problem.

Sources close to the investigation said Murphy showed signs of severe internal bleeding, according to the Los Angeles Times, another sign of severe stress depending on the source. She may also have ruptured a major blood vessel from an aneurysm, or weakness in the blood vessel wall.
