Oscar-nominee Jude Law says he was humbled by the experience of filling Heath Ledger’s shoes on “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.” Ledger was playing the role of Tony — a member of a traveling theater group — in the film when he died in January 2008. Director Terry Gilliam subsequently cast Law, Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell to play different physical incarnations of the “Tony” character in the fantasy film. Law told People.com, quote, “When I got the call, it was a double tug. I liked Heath very much as a man and admired him as an actor. To help finish his final piece of work was a tribute I felt compelled to make.”
“Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus” debuts in limited release in the U.S. on Friday. It rolls out nationwide on January 8, 2010.
