Chris Brown’s upcoming “Fan Appreciation” tour may not be getting much appreciation from his fans. Citing several industry sources, BET.com reports the R&B star is having a difficult time selling tickets. Brown is currently serving five years on probation for assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna last February. Insiders allege that Brown’s arrest is the primary reason for the poor sales, as one source states, quote, “after that whole scandal, he’s not exactly kid-friendly. What parent would buy their children tickets to his concert?” Chris Brown’s agent is telling a different story, claiming that the singer’s sales are doing just fine in this difficult economy. He tells the “New York Daily News,” quote, “Dates are expected to sell out, and given the economic climate, ticket sales are doing very well.”
Chris Brown’s “Fan Appreciation” tour begins Saturday at the House of Blues in Houston, Texas. The trek will visit 18 cities, eventually wrapping-up December 15th at the Nokia Theatre in New York City. Over the weekend, Chris Brown sat down with MTV’s Sway to discuss his arrest for felony assault. Brown’s former flame, Rihanna, also discussed the couple’s violent relationship over the weekend on ABC’s “20/20.” Chris Brown’s upcoming album, “Graffiti,” hits stores on December 8th.
