Glitteratti Gossip – Magician David Copperfield has won a delay in the sexual assault case filed against him by an unidentified former beauty queen.A federal judge granted a six-month suspension in the civil lawsuit filed by an unidentified former Miss Washington contestant, who accused Copperfield in 2007, of sexually assaulting her when she stayed on his private island in the Bahamas. Copperfield denies the assault ever took place and says the lawsuit is an extortion attempt for financial gain.
The Seattle Times reports that Copperfield’s legal team requested the stay because they need more time to finish a criminal investigation into the woman’s allegations. The case is scheduled to return to court in March.
